Fundamentals of Our Faith
Here we share what we hold to be the objective Truth, only found in the inerrant word of God.
"It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God'"
- Matthew 4:4
What we believe about God
The Trinity
We believe in the Trinity; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. 3 persons in One. Not as modes or parts but of the same essence, nature and will, only distinct in personhood. Each person of the Godhead is coequal and coeternal. Not one is inferior to the other.
The Father
The First Person of the Trinity identified as the Father who is fully God, sharing the same divine essence as the Son and the Holy Spirit, yet distinct in personhood and role as He is shown as the Supreme Authority throughout scripture.
Jesus the Christ
We believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ, who is our Lord and Savior. The second person of the Trinity, He is the Son of God. We believe everything that was created, was created through Him. Jesus was born of a virgin, only came into this world from an eternal, preexistent state. We believe He paid the price for our sins and those that put their faith in Him will receive eternal life.
Holy Spirit
God the Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Trinity and proceeds from the Father through the Son. He has many titles that include but are not limited to : the Helper, the Comforter, the Advocate, the Counselor. We believe the Spirit convicts, teaches, guides and indwells in born again believers, sealing them in an inheritance for eternal life.
God's Word
We believe that all scripture (66 books of the Bible) is inspired by God, without error and contradiction. It is our final authority in all matters and all doctrine we have is built upon the foundation of Jesus, the apostles, and the prophets found from therein.
What we believe about Salvation
The Gospel
We believe everyone is born into the sinful nature. All have fallen short to the glory of God. We all deserve hell and no amount of works will save you. Jesus paid the price on the cross, taking the punishment that was deserved for us. Those that put their faith in Him will have eternal life and are reconciled to God through Jesus' sacrifice.
Baptism
We believe baptism is by full immersion only. Baptism does not save us as anything we do can save us. We do it as it is commanded by our Lord Jesus and is an outward expression of an inward belief.
Eternal Security
We believe we are sealed by the Holy Spirit after hearing the gospel of our salvation and believing He rose from the dead in our heart. We are not secure in ourselves, we are secure in God's power.
Sanctification
There are two types of sinners in this world. Those that do not believe and those that do. We will never be perfect until we meet Jesus in heaven. We do not believe in continuing in a sinful lifestyle as the good works that are started in us will be perfected, day by day as we walk with the Spirit. With that being said, when we are sealed, the Holy Spirit comes and starts to clean us up. We believe and live by Jesus' message "Repent and believe!"
The Lord's Supper
We believe that the Lord's Supper (also known as Communion) is symbolic, not a sacrament, to be done in remembrance of the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. We do it once a quarter. Four times a year.
